A press image of the ZTE Grand S 5-inch smartphone has been leaked ahead of its CES unveiling.
An anonymous tipster shared this image of the ZTE Grand S with Engadget just two weeks shy of its official unveiling at the CES show in Las Vegas.
The ZTE Grand S represents the Chinese manufacturer's biggest attempt at a high-end smartphone device yet - quite literally. With a 5-inch full HD (1080p) display, the device will fall into the same category as the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and the HTC DLX.
'Phablet' devices such as this fall between 4.7-inch smartphones like the Google Nexus 4 and compact tablets such as the Google Nexus 7.
It's already been confirmed that the ZTE Grand S will launch at CES from January 8. The ZTE design chief said as much earlier in December, which was followed by confirmation of the ZTE Grand S appearing on the CES press events schedule.
This listing referred to the ZTE Grand S as "the world's thinnest for 5 inch FHD smartphones," and made mention of the fact that device was made out of ceramic.
It's widely expected that CES 2013 will see a raft of such 1080p or full HD devices. Such devices, like the aforementioned HTC DLX, will feature displays that attain 25 to 40 per cent greater pixel density than current high-end smartphones like the iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S3.
Are you looking forward to the full HD revolution, or is it a meaningless gimmick in such a small form-factor? Let us know in the comments section below, or use our Twitter or Facebook feeds to make your point.
