Facebook is taking the mobile scene pretty seriously lately, with regular updates to its iOS and Android apps coming out very regularly in the recent past. Now, Facebook has added a new feature to its iOS and Android apps called “Nearby” which can be accessed by opening up the context menu on the left.
The Nearby feature is a nifty addition to the app, often found only in GPS apps. If you’re ever in a locality you may not be familiar with and are looking for what’s good in the area, Nearby feature on the Facebook app will definitely help you out. What it essentially does is show you every popular spot in the immediate vicinity of where you are.
Nearby will also allow you to sort the result by the nature of the establishment, for example, we wanted to know which coffee shops were in the area, so we could refine our search by “coffee shop” and see what other options we have, along with the one we frequent.
What’s also great about the new Nearby feature is that it will let you to make recommendations to your friends for places they should check out, in the event they find themselves with too much time on their hands with little knowledge of what to do with it.
